Understanding student assessment and achievement at North High School

North High School, like other schools, uses a variety of assessments for a variety of purposes. We use quarterly content assessments, Advanced Placement (AP) tests and ACTs which allow students to earn credit towards graduation and to pursue college admission.

The MN Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) is optional for students to take and we are seeing more students opting out of MCAs.

At North High School, an example of Math and English/Reading proficiency is more based on the quarterly and annual state standards-based assessments that are content-developed and administered. Based on the most recent 25/26 Math and English/Reading assessments, North students are averaging 88% and 90% mastery/proficiency, respectively.

If parents have questions about the assessments their students are taking, they are encouraged to contact their child's teachers or our administrators. We are also always happy to answer questions about how our students are doing collectively.
